Cowboys Fire Former $3.6 Million Starter: Sources

As the Dallas Cowboys finish their 53-man roster by 4 p.m. on August 29, 2023, word of the harsh cuts is beginning to circulate

According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, the team told veteran defender Quinton Bohanna that he was being released.

"The Cowboy[s] cutdown to a 53-man roster will close a chapter for some members of the 2021 draft class," Gehlken tweeted on August 29. "

NT Quinton Bohanna, a sixth-round pick, has been waived, according to a source." He was informed on Monday."

In 2022, Bohanna started nine games for Dallas, but the addition of Mazi Smith this offseason rendered the veteran less valuable.

Bohanna had 19 tackles in 13 games last season, largely as a run stopper utilized to clog the defensive line's middle.

Bohanna had two seasons left on a four-year, $3.6 million contract when he was dismissed.

Bohanna was scheduled to earn $940,000 in 2023, and Dallas will save roughly $900,000 by releasing him.
