Deion Sanders and Tracey Edmonds announced their breakup on Instagram late Sunday night."To EVERYONE who has been there for us, supported us

and shown us love...We have mutually decided that it is best for us to move forward in life AS FRIENDS and have made this decision with love in our hearts,

respect for each other, and appreciation for the time we've shared together," the two of them wrote in a joint statement on their Facebook page.

"Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we make this transition." THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS BEING THERE FOR US

You are an incredible woman and a wonderful mother. God bless you in all you do and every step you take. You are THE HER. !!! Tracey-Mack!!!"

Sanders and Edmonds, both 56, met at a screening party for a film Edmonds produced in 2012. Despite the fact that they barely spoke briefly during their first meeting,

Sanders was so captivated with the producer that he requested a buddy to grab her business card that night.

A few months later, the football coach contacted Edmonds to arrange a meeting to discuss his vision for a reality series.
