Early writing of ‘You're Losing Me’ sparked many theories about Taylor Swift's breakup with Joe Alwyn.

Since Taylor Swift seemed to be giving away a few details about the release date of Reputation (Taylor's Version),

fans have been waiting for an announcement. That wasn't quite what was expected,

as Taylor Swift instead made available the May-original "From the Vault" song "You're Losing Me" from Midnights (Late Night Edition).

She sings, as the title implies, about a relationship that is about to end, but fans are speculating ,

about her breakup with her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn after Jack Antonoff disclosed how long ago the song was actually written.

In April, shortly after she started the Eras Tour, rumors circulated that Taylor Swift and English actor Joe Alwyn,

who had been dating for six years, were divorcing. Reports at the time claimed that the breakup "was not dramatic" and that the relationship had "run its course."

However, was it a long time coming, as Taylor might say? When Midnights co-producer Jack Antonoff posted this old photo on his Instagram Stories, fans began to believe that to be the case:
