Is the Yellowstone Universe's Lawmen: Bass Reeves?

Taylor Sheridan's stable of projects includes Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, and Tulsa King,

not to mention the impending Matthew McConaughey-led Yellowstone sequel series (probably the now-announced show dubbed 2024) and the 6666 Ranch show.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves is the newest series in Sheridan's universe, and the true story behind the show is equally as compelling as the show itself.

Bass Reeves, a federal peace officer and the first Black deputy U.S.

Marshal west of the Mississippi River based in Arkansas and tasked with apprehending and arresting outlaws, is played by David Oyelowo (an Academy Award contender for his role in Selma).

In actual life, Reeves had made over 3,000 arrests before retiring, and it is suspected that he was a drug dealer.

Of course, one of the best aspects of Sheridan's productions is how many of them are interconnected.

Yellowstone is set in the present day, whereas 1883 follows the Dutton family as they travel across the country to Montana in the 1880s, shortly after the Civil War.
