Although John Wick: Chapter 5 is unlikely, The Continental's Wick substitute demonstrates that the series can flourish without Keanu Reeves. 

While John Wick 5 may or may not materialize, his successor in the prequel series The Continental demonstrates that the franchise can survive without Keanu Reeves. 

Just as the Mission: Impossible films have become inexorably linked to Tom Cruise's character, it's difficult to imagine the John Wick films without Keanu Reeves.  

The original picture is credited for saving the star's career by relying heavily on his cool demeanor and ability to perform the film's intense action sequences.  

Following John Wick's alleged death in Chapter 4, it will be intriguing to see how the franchise develops without its original lead character. 

Viewers won't have to say good-by to Wick just yet, as Reeves will feature in the upcoming spinoff Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas.  

The Continental, which chronicles how young Winston (Colin Woodell) became the manager of the titular hotel for killers in the late 1970s, will be the ultimate litmus test for how the series would do without Mr. Wick.
