Legends and Cowboys fans laud DaRon Bland's DPOY argument after Pick-6 record

The debate over who would win the AP Defensive Player of the Year centered on three players all season. Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys

has finished second in the voting for the last two seasons, trailing Pittsburgh's TJ Watt in 2021 and San Francisco's Nick Bosa in 2022. Since the beginning of the season,

Parsons and Watt have been viewed as a close second to Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett.

A fresh rival emerged a few weeks ago, when a second Cowboys defender set a new record. Cornerback DaRon Bland tied for the league lead with his sixth

interception last week. But it was what he did after that, returning it to the end zone, that got him into the conversation.

Bland scored his fourth return touchdown of the season, tying a mark set only three times in NFL history and not since Eric Allen did it in 1993. Allen placed ninth in DPOY voting that year,

with Rod Woodson winning the award. Bland's odds were still high at the time, but with Twitter holding the receipts

yesterday's historic interception capping Dallas' 45-10 triumph over Washington set up a thrilling sprint to the finish.
