Lessons learned by a woman who lost fifty pounds and maintained her weight loss for seven years

Seven years ago, Gen Cohen embarked on a fitness journey, determined to find a sustainable approach to weight loss.

Despite trying numerous fad diets over a decade, Cohen faced the common issue of regaining more weight than she lost.

Realizing the need for a lasting change, Cohen adopted a strategy focusing on a small calorie deficit, ample protein intake, and the 80/20 principle.

Over the course of a year, Cohen shed 50 pounds, and remarkably, she has maintained her weight loss for seven years.

Cohen attributes her success to a transformative shift in mindset. She emphasized the importance of believing in the ability to change and staying consistent with a healthy lifestyle.

Cohen employed manifestation techniques and attended therapy to address childhood trauma, enhance self-love, and break free from emotional eating habits.

Unlike previous attempts focused on short-term goals, Cohen approached this journey as a life-changing experience, making only sustainable adjustments.

Cohen refrained from eliminating favorite foods, prioritized walking as her primary exercise, and advocated for changes that could be maintained in the long run.

Cohen stressed the importance of a calorie deficit while ensuring sufficient protein intake, aiming for at least 100 grams daily. Protein aids in satiety and muscle preservation during fat loss.

Cohen incorporated habits such as drinking 100 ounces of water daily and walking at least 20 minutes each day. She emphasized these simple practices alongside a caloric deficit to achieve weight loss without burnout.
