Lions head coach Dan Campbell reveals what the defense 'desperately' needs to improve.

The Detroit Lions were masters at applying pressure on opponents to induce turnovers during their late-season push in 2022.

Head coach Dan Campbell wants the players to revert to that mindset this season.

The Lions dropped to 8-3 after a Thanksgiving Day loss to the Green Bay Packers, losing the turnover war and allowing first-year starter Jordan Love to carve up the defense.

After the game, Campbell stated that the squad "desperately" needs more turnovers.

"Here's what we need to do: we need takeaways." We have to, that's something we really need to improve on," Campbell told SI.com.

"That's something we did really well this time last year, once we hit that last call it 10, eight to ten games, we were getting takeaways." Man, we were playing hard.

We were putting pressure on the quarterback and influencing him, but then we got these.

You're getting two a game, you're getting - and that's where we're lacking right now."With the Lions losing momentum in the hunt for the top overall seed in the NFC, Campbell believes it is time for a defensive mindset shift.
