Mel Tucker's successor as Michigan State football coach is up for grabs with nine candidates.

Mel Tucker was fired from his job as head football coach at Michigan State on Wednesday. This means that the school will soon start looking for a new coach.

Harlon Barnett will be the Spartans' head coach for the rest of the 2023 season. Alan Haller, who is in charge of sports, will start looking for a stable replacement in the meantime.

Michigan State is looking for a new head football coach just two years after hiring Tucker and thought the team was set for the future.

In 2021, the coach got a 10-year, $95 million contract deal to keep him in East Lansing, where he led the Spartans to an 11-2 record.

Tucker will probably lose out on almost $80 million because he was fired for cause because of sexual harassment claims against him.
