Shane MacGowan: Pogues singer dies aged 65

Shane MacGowan, the frontman of The Pogues, passed away at the age of 65 after being hospitalized recently for encephalitis.

The singer-songwriter had been ill for a while. Her songs include A Pair of Brown Eyes and Fairytale of New York from 1987.

According to his spouse Victoria Mary Clarke, MacGowan "meant the world to me" in an Instagram post.

MacGowan also had a history of drug and alcohol abuse.

"I don't know how to say this, so I'm just going to say it," the writer wrote. Shane has departed to live with his lovely mother Therese, Jesus, and Mary."

The musician known for both his songs and excesses has passed away.

She stated that MacGowan "will always be the light that I hold before me and the measure of my dreams and the love of my life and the most beautiful soul and beautiful angel and the sun and the moon and the start and end of everything that I hold dear" .

MacGowan "died peacefully at 3.30am this morning (30 November) with his wife and sister by his side," according to a statement from his representative.
