The 'Grand Theft Auto' teaser reveals the release date for GTA 6.

A teaser for "Grand Theft Auto VI," the next version of the enormously popular and violent video game franchise, has leaked online ahead of its official release.

According to developer Rockstar Games, the sixth chapter will be released in 2025.

The trailer received over 32 million views in its first few hours on YouTube.

The trailer was originally supposed to go up on Tuesday, December 5 at 9 am PST.

However, Rockstar Games stated on X, formerly known as Twitter, "Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube."

GTA 6, the next chapter in the action-adventure game, has been in the works for quite some time. In 2013, GTA 5 was released.

In the trailer, a female protagonist, Lucia, appears to go on a crime rampage through crowded beaches,

city freeways, and clubs with her sidekick, a like Bonnie and Clyde.

Take-Two Interactive's Rockstar Games has been plagued by leaks. In 2022, hackers leaked previously undisclosed video from GTA's next incarnation.

The video gaming community was shocked when screenshots and game-play videos appeared online, which the corporation said were real and had been released as a result of a "network intrusion."
