Yellowstone Was Supposed to Introduce a Long-Lost Dutton Brother Prior to Cancellation

Who'd have guessed? When Paramount Network canceled Yellowstone, a branch of the Dutton family tree was severed.

Cory Asbury, a Christian rocker, tells Taste of Country that he has been cast as Kayce Dutton's (and, presumably, Beth and Jamie's) long-lost brother for Season 6.

"I was fired up about it and so bummed when it was cancelled," he said. "So bummed."

Even though it meant moving to Big Sky Country for a year, the singer/songwriter's family was on board with the gig. Wife 

"Anna gave me the OK," he told the Dutton Rules podcast, "and our kids were like, 'OK, cool, we'll live in Montana.'"

The decision to take Taylor Sheridan's megahit to the train station was made halfway through Yellowstone Season 5. 

The second half of the season, which includes the series finale, will premiere in November 2024.

That, however, will not be the end of the franchise in any way. Two new spinoffs, 1944 and 2024, are in the works, with the latter starring Matthew McConaughey.
