Yellowstone's 6666 Show Is Something No Other Spinoff Has Tried Yet

Though the Yellowstone franchise has seen a number of spinoffs come and go, Yellowstone: 6666 will be unlike any other.

The Yellowstone franchise is no stranger to spinoff series, but thankfully, its latest project, Yellowstone: 6666, will do something no spinoff series has ever done completely: leave the Dutton ranch.

Yellowstone is a neo-western drama that premiered in 2018. It stars Kevin Costner as John Dutton, the patriarch of the United States' largest contiguous ranch.

Aside from his cattle, Dutton must deal with political corruption, local violence, and problems caused by his own family members, all of whom are as determined as he is.

Since 2018, the Yellowstone universe has grown far beyond the scope of the main series. The franchise's first spinoff prequel series, 1883, premiered in 2021.

It traced the ancestors of John Dutton, who were the first of the Dutton family to settle at the famous Dutton Ranch in Montana.

A year later, a second prequel spinoff titled 1923 debuted. Similarly, this series tells the story of the Dutton family in the 1920s, with connections dating back to 1883.

There will be many more Yellowstone spinoffs in the future, but the next one, Yellowstone: 6666, will hopefully break the mold set by its predecessors.
